Green Tea vs White Tea - Analysis

The health benefits associated with green tea are not unknown for people. Several researches are still being conducted to find what type of advantages can be acquired by using green tea. Though researches are still going on, but, there are several health benefits that are found to be connected with the use of green tea.

The popularity of green tea is really on an upsurge. Today, you can find green tea in almost all parts of the world. Actually, this popularity is only because of the health benefits which are associated with green tea. Since the content of antioxidants is quite high in green tea, so, health benefits are also numerous. Though the popularity of green tea is immense and advantages are multifold, but, there is another type of tea which is fast becoming popular. This tea is known as white tea.

White tea and green tea are made from leaves of the same plant. The basic difference, however, is in the leaves. Actually, white tea is extracted from those leaves which are not opened completely. These are the leave which contains fine white hair on them and it is because of these hairs that tea has acquired its name. In simple words, both of the teas are made from leaves plucked from same plant but at different times. Leaves for white tea are harvested in younger age and that is basic difference between the both types of teas.

Both of the teas come with antioxidants which act behind the beneficial effects of green and white tea. But, when you compare them both, it is supposed that young leaves contain more antioxidants as compared to the older leaves. What it means is that white tea may have more antioxidants in it because of which it can be considered more effective. So, if antioxidants are the reason for you to drink tea, then it is better to go with white tea.

When it comes to taste, you may find white tea to score more marks. It however is a matter of personal preferences and choice. But, it is a fact that there are lots of people who don’t like the “grassy” taste associate with green tea. In addition to taste, there is another important thing which separates white tea from green tea. This thing is about the amount of caffeine available in both types of teas. Since caffeine is not liked because of several health threats associated with it, so, the tea containing lesser amount of caffeine is better which in this case is in the form of white tea.

So, you can see that health benefits associated with both type of teas are similar to one another. But, if you will delve more in the concept then you will find that white tea is much better than its counterpart. It however is significant to mention that you may have to pay a greater price to get white tea since it takes a lot to pluck young leaves to create white tea.
